USAA Auto Insurance Information

The United Services Automobile Association, or USAA, is a reciprocal financial services company which offers various products, from banking to insurance, to all members of the United States armed forces of any branch, as well as their immediate family members. Formed in 1922 by 25 members of the U.S. Army, the company has since grown until it is now a Fortune 500 company. USAA posted almost $18 billion in revenue in 2010 and has more than 8 million members. USAA auto insurance is known as some of the most reliable and responsive in the industry.

USAA History

Originally called the United States Army Automobile Association, USAA was formed by 25 armed forces officers in response to their inability to obtain auto insurance because they were labeled as high risk by the insurers of that time, due to their occupations. The popularity of their product caught on quickly, and the company opened offices on military bases in Germany and the U.K. after their original branch in Texas. By the 1960s their name changed to USAA, and they had begun to diversify into other financial areas, but their focus has always been on the military and their dependents.

USAA Auto Insurance Products

USAA offers all auto insurance products, from basic liability and casualty coverage to the most detailed comprehensive policies. This company has an extremely high loyalty rate among its customers, due to the fraternal nature of the companys target audience, of course, but also due to their commitment to customer service and response, which has won industry and consumer awards. Their prices are very competitive, and they advertise that customers can save hundreds of dollars per year by switching to USAA.

Discounts and Savings

The company has a wide array of benefits and discounts for its customers, designed to save them money and increase customer loyalty. For instance, drivers who have maintained good driving records for 5 years, who complete defensive driving and driver training courses, and those whose children maintain good school grades all qualify for significant premium discounts. Those who bundle policies, drive multiple vehicles with USAA insurance, keep USAA service for extended periods of time, and who drive new vehicles are also entitled to big savings on their auto insurance.

Award-Winning Customer Service

USAA had won several awards and designations for its exceptional service, such as by JD Power and Associates, AM Best, Consumer Reports and Business week, many of these recognitions firsts for the insurance industry. USAA has always taken advantage of their unique niche and stayed atop trends. USAA members can get quotes, customize, purchase, and alter their policies easily through the companys online and phone systems; they can also initiate and monitor claims too. USAA offers 24/7 roadside assistance and on-site claims service, and was one of the first auto insurers to do so.

For those who are eligible to utilize USAAs services, meaning those who are either past or present U.S. armed forces members or their family or descendants, there are many excellent advantages to joining up. USAA has a wide range of services at excellent prices, and a very good reputation among their peers, customers and the business world.
