Trailer Tent or Folding Caravan?

Camping is a pastime that’s growing in popularity, and it isn’t hard to see why. That freedom and feeling of being at one with the outdoors is something that can’t be beaten, but some people need more of their creature comforts. That’s why trailer tents and folding caravans are often preferred, but whichever one you choose remember to get folding caravan insurance to suit.

But, just what are trailer tents and folding caravans? Aren’t the essentially the same thing? In a lot of respects they’re very similar, both being folded down and towed by the car before being fully assembled at the camp site, but they do have some differences.

Trailer tents are basically exactly what they sound like – tents that are folded up and contained within the trailer itself. When unfolded the trailer acts as additional accommodation or structural support, often being used as a place to sleep.

Folding caravans are slightly different in that they’re a lot more stable, having a metal or plastic structure that simply folds down. When opened up they can offer the full caravan experience, albeit a slightly smaller one than in regular caravans.

The one that you go for largely comes down to personal preferences, with some people preferring trailer tents for the feeling of more traditional camping whereas others opt for folding caravans for slightly more space and structure.

But, don’t forget about insurance. It’s essential to get insurance before you set off on your holiday if you want complete peace of mind, but remember that there might be slightly different considerations to that of regular caravan insurance. Most insurers will be able to offer you similar policies for each type of trailer, so don’t worry too much about the insurance implications of each.

As you can see, even though there are subtle differences between trailer tents and folding caravans the insurance you’ll be offered will be very similar for each. As long as you make sure that you’ve got adequate folding caravan insurance in place you don’t have to worry, so do your research and find the best one for you.
