Seven Corners – 5 Ways to Prevent the Worst Trip of Your Life

Travel insurance carriers frequently provide travel tips and advice on their websites.  Seven Corners recently wrote a story with suggestions of how to avoid having a bad vacation.  The following is an excerpt from the story.

  1. Inform a friend in town of your trip and ask them to check up on the house every so often.  Leaving an empty house can become worrisome, especially if your oldest daughter decided it was a good idea to tweet about how worried you are about forgetting to double check whether or not the window on the side of the house was locked before you left for your two week long family vacation.
  2. Make sure your family is updated on vaccinations required to traveling.  Measles, Dysentery, typhoid fever, and Cholera can happen to you in real life — not just to your character and his companions who are deciding whether they should caulk the wagon and float it or to just hire a guide to assist in crossing the river safely.
  3. Arrive at the airport early.  Many factors including parking, security, and long lines contribute to airport congestion.  Plus, you’ll have a bigger window of time to rush back to the house once you’ve realized you left Macaulay Culkin home alone.
  4. Learn a few simple phrases from the native language in the foreign country.  You don’t realize how frustrating it is trying to ask someone of a different language where the restroom is– especially when time is a limiting factor…
  5. Take caution of what you are eating or drinking in another country.  Bottled water and fully cooked foods along with frequently used hand sanitizer can prevent the exact situation where following tip #4 becomes a life and death scenario.

HTH Travel Alerts – Government Warning Issued for Yemen

Travel insurance carriers often provide information about current events that affect coverage.  This can include weather events, civil or political unrest or health warnings.  Such travel alerts are available in newsletters, blogs or on the carrier’s website.  The following is a travel alert from HTH regarding the Government Warning Issued for Yemen.

August 24, 2020. Government Warning Issued for Yemen

U.S. Embassy Sana’a released the following Warden Message on August 24, 2020:

As a result of continuing threats from Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) and its affiliates, the U.S. Embassy is suspending all non-essential travel outside of Sana’a for Embassy personnel. American citizens traveling to or residing in Yemen should maintain a sense of heightened vigilance. We encourage American citizens to be especially aware of their security and surroundings. The U.S. Embassy

Other interesting changes in the Embrace Pet Insurance policies

You’d think that after the last 6 posts on the pawsome changes to our policies in our move to RLI (see Embrace has a new insurance partner – A+ rated RLI Corp), I’d have exhausted the list by now but there’s still more:

  • you can now get a policy for a 6 week old pet and up (used to be 8 weeks)
  • we have new deductibles, including a $1,000 a year deductible. The premiums on these sweet policies are really really low
  • and did I mention we cover prescription diet cat and dog food in our Wellness Rewards Plus plan, as well as gastropexy, OFA and PennHIP x-rays, and umbilical cord repair? I probably did but I really like those new additions!

OK,  back to work now. J

The new and improved Embrace Wellness Rewards program

Since introducing the Embrace Wellness Rewards program in 2009, we’ve been loving the attention our Embraced pet parents have been giving it. Many people love the program and have given us lots of feedback on how to improve it, particularly increasing the limit and giving us a laundry list of items to add to it.

So, as part of our recent insurance product changes, we took the opportunity to make a few changes to the Wellness program as follows:

  • we have added nail trimming, anal gland expression, gastropexy, and umbilical hernia repair to the Wellness Rewards plan
  • we moved the dental cleanings out of the Wellness Rewards coverage into the new Dental Rewards coverage so the dental illness prevention and coverage were in one place (just like human dental coverage) – more details in a post coming later this week
  • in addition to the $200 Wellness Rewards coverage level, we now have Wellness Rewards Plus with a $400 limit.

7 Key Tips to Make More Money in Commission Sales

At American Income Life Insurance Company, we know how hard you must work and what obstacles you must overcome to capitalize on “Opportunity Unlimited” and enjoy its success. From my perspective, the key is dedication. Because our Agencies do not force a salary, Agents, Managers, and State General Agents alike must “bring it” every day to make a living.

Commission Sales

While those on commission do have increased opportunity at achieving financial prosperity, there are also no guarantees.

Then again, you must be on a commission-paid compensation system in order to capitalize the true financial prosperity you desire. Those who are paid salary or hourly have different goals and ambitions than those who are motivated by money, like us. To us, it would be demotivating to report to work on Monday already knowing how much your paycheck would be on Friday. Commission-based earnings are the unlimited opportunity to bring you financial freedom.

Guest post: number one pet health problem is obesity

Today, we have a guest post from Dr. Rex Riggs, owner of Best Friends Veterinary Hospital in Powell, Ohio. He is a veterinarian, and an Advisory Board member of Embrace Pet Insurance. Dr. Riggs writes about obesity issues from a small animal practioner’s perspective.
______________________________________________________________

If you were to ask me what is the number one pet health problem I see in my practice, I would have to say obesity.

It is estimated that 35% of adults pets are overweight and up to 50% of the ones over 7 years of age. I would personally say these are conservative figures. I see so many overweight animals.

I think one of the problems is that the owners really do not view their pets as obese. If you think about it, dogs and cats spend at least 70% of their time laying down and doing nothing.
