Is Baggage Delay a Payout or Reimbursement?

Baggage delay coverage in a travel insurance policy provides relief to travelers who are without there bags at their destination.  The coverage is not full payout to the traveler when the bags are delayed.  Rather, this benefit will reimburse the travelers for essential items, such as clothing and toiletries, while the luggage is delayed.  It is important to save receipts for the essential items purchased in order to file the claim.  There is also a set amount of time that the bags must be delayed before this benefit is available, normally 12-48 hours, depending on the plan.  Always refer to the certificate of insurance for details.
