Trailer Tent Maintenance

It’s all too easy to simply store your trailer tent away for the winter, not stopping to think about any potential maintenance issues. But, this could be a big mistake. It’s essential that you take trailer tent maintenance seriously unless you want its condition to deteriorate, and if you bear in mind these tips you’ll be able to keep it damage-free for years to come.

1. Clean it after use to ensure no dirt has built up. It’s sometimes tempting to store it away and think you’ll clean it later, but don’t – doing so will only make matters worse.

2. Thoroughly air it out before you store it away for the winter. You should never put it away if there’s even the slightest hint of moisture or dampness, because again this will only get worse throughout its storage period. It needs to be bone dry before it gets packed away, and even if it takes longer it should never be overlooked.

3. Keep it stored in a moisture-free environment. If any moisture were allowed to enter it would have the chance to accumulate and lead to mould and mildew, so keep it carefully stored and definitely not in a leaky garage.

4. If you notice any mildew, thoroughly clean it with a specialist solution for this type of canvas. This ensures that it’s properly cleaned and that the canvas won’t be damaged, and again make sure it’s dry before you pack it up again.

5. Ensure your tent is safely locked up when not in use. Trailer tents can be incredibly pricey, so if you want to protect your investment you should store it somewhere safe and secure – ideally in a locked garage, or even better would be a reputable secure storage centre.

These are just a few ways that you can protect your trailer tent, and if you remember these tips you’ll have no problem taking care of it to ensure you get years of enjoyment.
