Cut the Cost of Gas in Half with This One Simple Tip

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’re probably well aware that gas prices have skyrocketed this past year. As of this week, the national average cost of a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline is $3.97, a whopping 36.5% increase from last year. And that’s just the average. In California, the price of gas hit an astronomical $4.25!

Of course, what goes up must come down, right? Well, not necessarily anytime soon. And since we can’t control how much gas costs, most of us are trying to figure out how we can use less of it.

The average American drives approximately 13,500 miles per year in a vehicle that gets an average of 25.5 miles per gallon of gas. That’s 530 gallons a year, and at $4 a gallon, nearly $200 a month spent on gas.

But what if you could cut the cost of gas in half by doing one simple thing? You can. It’s called carpooling, and Zimride is bringing it into the 21st century.

Approximately 76 percent of commuters drive alone. Why? Because until now, it’s never been very easy to find someone to carpool with.

But Zimride’s social network for ridesharing makes it easy for anyone to find and share a ride from point A to point B or B to C or Y to Z. You get the point.

Whether you’re willing to drive or need a lift, you’re covered. Just post your starting and ending locations, and Zimride will match you with others going the same way. It’s really that simple.

We may not be able to fix gas prices but we can help you cut your gas costs in half and let’s not forget the added bonus of meeting new friends.
