What is park home caravan insurance?

Posted by Dustin Reed \\ Oct 02, 2010

Park home caravan insurance is a form of insurance protection that applies to a special category of non-traditional dwelling.

If that sounds to be something of a clumsy definition, let’s explain why.

Static caravans and park homes

A static caravan typically conforms to certain expectations in terms of its insurance characteristics:

  • even if it has wheels and is theoretically mobile, it is typically semi-permanently secured and anchored at a single site;
  • it is used by the owners or their guests for a few weeks or months per year as a holiday home or weekend retreat etc.

A park home is typically quite different:

  • it is sited on a registered and council approved park home site;
  • it may be specially constructed and designated as a park home and typically can’t be seen as being mobile;
  • you inhabit it as your normal and permanent place of residence.

Why is this distinction important and lead to the need for specific park home caravan insurance?

Exposures

Of course, some static caravans are equipped to very high standard in terms of their fixtures and fittings. They are often fondly regarded as a sort of home away from home.

However, in the case of park homes, they are your home! What that means is that typically they’ll have a higher level of furnishing and fixtures and they may well also contain rather more by way of valuable personal property and equipment than a typical static caravan would.

Therefore, insurance providers typically like to ensure that you are appropriately covered by a specific park home insurance policy.

Caution

The obvious implication of this is that static caravan insurance won’t suffice if you are living in a park home – and it may pay not to confuse the two!

Your insurance provider will typically be only too happy to clarify the differences for you if you have any doubts when looking for static or park home caravan insurance.

On rural roads, the speed limit increases to 60 mph. About 51 percent of the surveyed motorists admitted that they have broken this limit during the last year. About 20 per cent of the drivers admitted breaking this limit once in a week at least. These results have come as an alarm bell.

Does Insurance Increase When Adding a 17 Year Old Driver?

Posted by Dustin Reed \\ Sep 29, 2010

    Risk

  1. Due to the risks and inexperience of new drivers, adding a 17-year-old driver to your policy may increase your insurance up to 50 percent. But, adding a teen to an existing policy is the cheaper route, since the average individual premium for a teenager is $1200.
  2. Formulas

  3. Insurance companies may have substantially different calculations to determine insurance rates; these formulas will determine how cheap or expensive your insurance will be. Get quotes from multiple companies to compare the best rates.
  4. Other Considerations

  5. Insurance companies may also consider different factors when determining premiums for teens, including the need for the insurance, the insurance type required, information concerning the vehicle, the average distance driven, whether the teen is the primary driver and the teen’s academic record.
  6. Fluctuation

  7. Once you cover your teen driver, rates will go either up or down throughout the years. Insurance rates generally come down as the teenager gets older. Traffic violations will increase the insurance premiums.

Top Auto Insurers Allstate, State Farm and Geico Have Best Reputations

Posted by Kristin Collins \\ Sep 29, 2010

If auto insurance coverage is on your mind and you’re looking for the best company, consider Allstate, State Farm or Geico. According to a new survey conducted by Market Force Information, a customer intelligence and customer experience management solutions firm, these three car insurance companies are among the most reputable in the nation.

Claims Processing, Price Improve Insurer Reputations

The survey, which looked at auto insurance preferences and trends, found that both Allstate and State Farm had the best reputations in the industry, earning 21 percent of the votes each. Geico also ranked very high, receiving 14 percent of the votes, while USAA and Progressive earned 6 percent of votes each.

The key reason that Allstate and State Farm ranked so high for reputation was their ability to process auto insurance claims well. Among the 18 percent of survey respondents who reported filing a claim with their providers, 85 percent said they were satisfied with the way their claims were processed.

Another major determinant in what gave insurers better reputations was the price they charged. In the survey, 59 percent of participants said their decision to go with an insurer was their price. In addition, many respondents said that insurers remained in their good graces if they offered complete services and received recommendations from loved ones.

Looking for Auto Insurance?

If you’re looking for auto insurance, using a survey based on customer satisfaction and insurer reputation is a good starting point, but it’s important to not stop there. In order to ensure you find the right coverage for you, it’s good to also do the following:

  • Compare services: While certain companies may be the best for everyone, they may not be the best for you. Take time to compare the services offered to make sure they meet your needs.
  • Compare prices: You also want to make sure that the prices being offered (including initial payment) are affordable for you.
  • Check with your state insurance department: You could also contact your state insurance department to check consumer complaint ratios for all companies. Read the details of the complaints to see if a company seems right for you.

If you want to get the most bang for your buck and a guarantee of quality service then you will have to do the legwork necessary to find the right insurer. Otherwise, you could be spending your money on auto insurance without the promise of satisfaction.

Florida Auto Insurance Penalties for Speeding Tickets

Posted by Dustin Reed \\ Sep 27, 2010
  1. speed camera image by Horticulture from Fotolia.com  Speeding can be electronically recorded. Speeding is the most common traffic offense in the state of Florida, and getting one could affect your insurance rates. The insurance penalties for a speeding ticket in Florida will depend on a number of factors, such as how far over the posted limit you were traveling, your driving history, and the level of risk you are assigned by your insurance provider. First-time offenses may be forgiven, but serious or frequent ones are grounds for cancellation.
  2. 1 to 15 Miles Over Limit

  3. Traveling less than 10 miles over the limit is considered a minor infraction by the Florida DMV, and assessed three points on your driver record. If this is a first offense, you may not face any repercussions on your insurance premiums at all. If it is not a first offense, or other factors are involved, the premiums may increase accordingly. The important consideration is going to be the points on your driving history, not a ticket for a minor offense unless such offenses become the practice rather than the exception.
  4. 16 MPH or More Over Limit

  5. The Florida DMV assesses four points against those traveling more than 15 miles over the posted limit. When the points have been processed, your insurance rates are likely to go up a little. If you have a previously clean driving record, the insurance company may forgive the ticket, but the infraction is a moderate driving offense and most companies consider this as altering your risk as an insurable. If you have the option of taking a driver improvement course, this one be a good offense to wipe from your record to prevent an insurance hike or points on your license.
  6. Causing an Accident

  7. Speeding in a manner that causes an accident will put six points on your driving record. If you already have other points on your record, your license may even be suspended. For insurance purposes, the risk of a claim has become a reality and your insurance is going to go up. How much auto insurance premiums increase is determined by each company and the amount of insured damage may play a factor in whether your premiums increase or you are denied renewal. In some cases, such as multiple claims of a similar type, the insurance company may cancel the coverage completely by mailing you a notice of intent to cancel.
  8. Reckless Driving and Endangerment

  9. Travel more than 25 miles an hour over the speed limit is classified as Reckless driving and adds six points to your driving record. In some situations, such as having minor children in the vehicle when the ticket is written, may be grounds for additional infractions such as reckless endangerment. Insurance premiums will increase based on the system used by your insurance provider, and any previous blots on your driving history are likely to mean that this one causes a dramatic increase. If an accident or other damages occurred during the infraction your insurance company may be forced to settle the claims but is within rights to cancel the insurance policy afterward.

Drivers without car insurance are adding up to the premiums each year

Posted by Kristin Collins \\ Sep 26, 2010

Car insurance customers are increasingly finding it difficult to maintain a balance in their household budgets. The reasons for sparing car insurance premiums are many. One of the major reasons is the growing number of uninsured motorists on the road. It is a matter of great concern for the insurance companies as well as the customers. If statistics are to be believed, uninsured motor drivers are adding about £1.25bn each year to a normal car insurance policy for a motorist in the UK.

The statistics revealed after a survey by one of the leading car insurance companies in the UK have shed some light on a very different reason for the rocketing premiums. The research says that an average UK driver’ s premium has risen by about £50 every year just because of the claims made by uninsured drivers. Another shocking fact revealed after this survey was a considerable number of innocent motorists who get injured or killed by these uninsured motorists.

Millions of UK motorists are consciously violating the laws including a mandatory car insurance cover for a vehicle running on a UK road. The massive insurance costs and inability to afford the adequate covers for their cars, many people are resorting to fraudulent practices as well as getting behind the wheels without any insurance cover. They are not only risking their vehicles but their lives as well.

The Automobile Association says that one in 20 cars in the UK are not being driven with an insurance cover. The Association also indicated that the rise between April and June in car insurance premiums in the year 2010 was the greatest since the last 16 years.

In a competitive industry like car insurance the UK, customers can easily compare car insurance and find a best deal that fits perfectly in their budget. The number of motorists refraining from a little hard work surveying the difference quotes result in insurance-less drivers on the UK roads.

The Internet Makes Life Much Easier

Posted by Admin \\ Sep 24, 2010

It is easy for some of us to remember the days when we didn’t carry mobile phones and didn t have the internet to look things up on. If we wanted to call somebody, we would either use our home phone or go to a payphone. Cell phones were limited to people like doctors, nurses, and shady characters who made their money doing shady things. If we wanted the lyrics to a song, we had to spend sometimes hours playing the tape (That s right tape, there were no CD s) back over and over again just to write all the lyrics down.

If we wanted to know what the definition was to a word, we had to crack open a real book and look it up! In addition, if we wanted to hear a specific song or watch a specific TV show, we had to go out to the store and purchase the cassette tape or we had to turn on the TV at the exact time the show was starting, no DVR or internet streaming TV.

Today things have changed so much. Almost everyone carries a cell phone, even children in grade school. There aren’t many people who don t have computers and internet access, and we certainly don t have to run out and buy a tape if we want to hear a specific song, we can just click on YouTube and search for it. If we want to purchase something like car insurance for example, we don t have to drive out to a number of different insurance agencies or spend countless hours on the phone. We can simply open our internet browser and do a quick online car insurance quote.

Not only can we get quotes online but we can also purchase our policies right there and print the cards out, in our own living rooms. Soon we will see the day where our computers can make us breakfast in the morning or prepare us a cup of coffee, until then we have so many conveniences that we should consider ourselves very lucky.
