5 Most Creative and Surprising Auto Insurance Advertisements

Posted by Kristin Collins \\ Oct 27, 2010

The subject of auto insurance doesn’t exactly bring to mind the word “creativity,” but maybe that’s why the advertisements below are so effective. After all, the way in which the average consumer is bombarded with product endorsements and promotions every day makes it increasingly difficult for individual companies to stand out among the competition.

The following five ads certainly stand out, however. From totally innovative to just plain hilarious, these car insurance advertisements go beyond just getting a potential customer’s attention–we can appreciate the artistry and imagination that went into creating them. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that some of these companies’ auto insurance rates aren’t bad either.

#1 Allstate

What better way to convince a driver they need auto insurance than by placing thoughts of their own car in jeopardy into their mind? Allstate went beyond the typical billboard and actually teetered a car over the edge of Chicago’s Marina Towers parking lot to make their point.

#2 Nationwide

This advertisement picks up where the previous one leaves off. Nationwide went so far as to create a fictitious paint company (Coop’s Paints) and construct a scene that rivals a Hollywood movie set, in which paint from the picture above actually spills out onto the cars and street below.

#3 Nationwide…Again

Another cutting-edge segment of Nationwide’s “Life Comes at You Fast” campaign, this ad no doubt makes anyone passing by look twice. They turn an average shopping mall staircase into the illusion a car is racing over the top of a steep incline, ready to descend upon onlookers in mere seconds.

#4 Nissan Auto Insurance

Nissan Auto Insurance recently won the Gold Outdoor Lion award at the 2010 Cannes International Advertising Festival for the “In Case Of” campaign. The above ad, “Pole,” is actually one of a three part series that likely garners acclaim due to its combination of beauty and simplicity. Check out “Cow” and “Hydrant” for the full story.

#5 1st for Women

This isn’t the first time 1st for Women has produced a one of a kind advertisement worth mentioning. This women-only insurance company has stood out in the auto insurance scene by producing consistently humorous commercials and print ads that demonstrate why there’s a need to separate the girls from the boys.

Comparing Auto Insurance rates to get the best deal

Posted by Admin \\ Oct 25, 2010

The recent over-saturation of the auto insurance market has had a drastic effect on the industry. The advent of competition has brought on consistently decreasing insurance premiums as auto insurers compete vigorously for business. Apart from their aggressive advertising campaigns, the main way in which these companies attract new clients is by striving to offer the lowest rate possible to each customer. This is especially necessary now because internet technologies have made it easy for prospective policyholders to compare car insurance rates online – giving them an easy way of picking out the best offering based on cost, and level of coverage. With this in mind, insurance companies are constantly bidding against each other to offer their customers better value for money – in a desperate attempt to keep them around and, perhaps, steal a few customers from their competitors. When you compare rates online you get to see the best that each company has to offer in a simple, readable format to enable you to make quick, informed decision. This information will include the premium for the specified policy, as well as a general idea of what the policy covers – helping you to better understand what you’re putting your money on and how the figure matches up with the service provided. One other benefit to comparing rates online is that you get the most up to date rates available. Since quotes/rates can change constantly, the best place to keep up with the newest costs, and offerings, is via the internet – rather than calling a company and hearing one quote, only to show up a few days later to hear a ridiculously expensive figure, couple with a sales pitch type of excuse. Comparing rates online avoids this hassle by providing up to date rates – and sometimes even gives the option to sign-up for your policy on the company website and print immediate “proof of insurance”

Auto Insurance for Bad Drivers

Posted by Admin \\ Oct 22, 2010

If you are the type of person who has a driving record long enough to line a football field, you may have trouble findingcheapest car insurance for bad drivers . While there are some companies that specialize in providing insurance for people who may not be able to find coverage anywhere else, these companies typically charge more money for premiums. On the other hand there are smart ways to go about getting a cheaper rate on your insurance policy. In some rare cases, insurance companies will offer better rates to people who are currently enrolled in school. This is especially true if those young people’s parents have their auto insurance policy with the same company. Sometimes they will be happy for the repeat business and offer a discount to those individuals. Also, if you get a cheap car that is not a sporty type vehicle and isn’t considered a high risk for accidents you might get an even better rate.

Being a bad driver is not without its consequences and one of the biggest of them, aside from being jailed, is having to pay outrageous insurance rates for the duration of your life. It may be a wise choice, if your driving record is truly that bad, to try and have an attorney get some of that stuff removed from your record. You might also consider registering your car in someone else’s name such as a parent or sibling so you will be able to be covered under an “occasional driver” clause, even if you are really the person who is always driving the car. It isn’t exactly the most honest approach but it doesn’t stop a lot of people from doing it. When it comes to car insurance you can find something affordable with a little bit of effort and a lot of searching. Try going online and seeing what sort of quotes you can find.

Factors Affecting the Cost of Insurance

Posted by Kristin Collins \\ Oct 22, 2010

A lot many of us believe compare car insurance stands out as the only medium to get lower insurance premiums. What most people do not take into consideration that insurance costs depend on several factors- factors which are capable of manipulating the premium rates. Some of these factors are completely unavoidable while certain others come with unpredictable conditions that cannot be overlooked. For instance, consider the case of the gender bias that comes with insurance sector. It is statistically known that women are better drivers than men meaning the insurance premiums for the former come with better quotes. On the contrary, men with their ‘boy racer’ image suffer the ever-rising costs of insurance premiums with grace.

Another of the well known stories is that of the younger drivers. Again, statistics claim that young drivers cannot be trusted with their driving abilities which shoot their insurance premiums to soaring heights. It is seen that younger motorists of the age group 17-21belong to the infamous “high- risk” group. As with the type of the driver, the insurance premiums vary with the type of car that you drive. For instance, your dream of driving a Ferrari may come true with ease but insurance for the same, would not be so. Sports cars, expensive models, as well as higher efficiency engines impose a higher premium. The prices inflate if there is a young driver behind the Ferrari wheel.

Lastly, the type of insurance that you go for counts a lot for determining the insurance rate. Comprehensive car insurance would be higher than that of a third party car insurance. However, with a third party insurance, you will have to pay for any of the repairs that your car may require. The number of claims that you make counts as another of the reasons for determining your insurance premiums. It would be a smarter move to compare car insurance to find out the best deals in insurance for your car.

Caravan Insurance Ireland

Posted by Dustin Reed \\ Oct 20, 2010

Sometimes, finding caravan insurance Ireland can seem difficult. Although not as much of an issue now as it once was, some companies will still only insure caravan users in the UK and deem the Republic of Ireland to be included in their EU policy. As such it can sometimes be difficult for residents in the Republic of Ireland to find appropriate insurance, but there are some companies that will be able to accommodate.

Probably one of the biggest and most popular caravan insurers in Ireland is Rosgoill Properties and Insurances. They specialise in providing caravan and holiday home insurance in the Republic of Ireland and have been in the business since 1996, so you can be sure of their experience. Roger Blythman and Associates Ltd is another possibility, being based in Dublin and providing insurance for caravans and mobile homes for people throughout Ireland.

Aviva is one of the few well-known insurance companies that will insure you and your caravan no matter where you are, with the Republic of Ireland being in their territorial limits. The AA will also be able to accommodate, so if you’d rather go for big names that you know you can trust you shouldn’t have a problem.

But, whichever company you go for (and there are sure to be other possibilities) it’s important to check their area limitations. If you want to take your caravan to the UK you need to see whether it’s included as standard or whether you’ll be using part of your designated EU days, while some insurers require you to let them know in advance when you’ll be travelling so always remember to check.

So, although it can initially seem difficult to find caravan insurance Ireland, if you know where to look and spend the time to do your research you should be able to find plenty of insurers that can accommodate. Once you’re fully covered you can get on the road in confidence, so always have a look and get the cover that you need.

Study Shows Spirited Vehicles Result in More Traffic Violations

Posted by Kristin Collins \\ Oct 18, 2010

Auto insurance claims are likely to increase due to greater traffic violations accumulated by drivers who purchase “spirited vehicles.” According to a study conducted by Quality Planning (QPC), an analytics company that validates policyholder information for auto insurance companies, drivers who purchase certain types of cars have a greater propensity for getting ticketed than others.

Certain Cars Encourage People to Drive Differently

The QPC study found there is a definite relationship between the type of car a person purchases and their driving behaviors. When it comes to “spirited vehicles,” (cars that result in greater traffic violations), the type of vehicle is usually one from a foreign manufacturer and meant for younger drivers.

Some spirited cars in the study included:

  • Mercedes-Benz SL-Class roadster
  • Toyota Camry and Solara
  • Scion TC
  • Hummer H2/H3
  • Acura Integra
  • Pontiac Grand Prix

These cars routinely have more traffic violations than other cars because of who they’re designed for and specific features within each car that make them more exciting to drive.

Should I Buy a Spirited Car?

Of course, buying what is considered to be a spirited vehicle doesn’t mean that you will automatically have more traffic violations. It just means that your temptation to break laws may be greater. However, since you have authority over your own driving behavior, you could easily follow all driving guidelines to make sure you’re safe at all times.

Remember, reckless driving at the very least could increase your auto insurance rates and at the worst could result in you injuring yourself or someone else–or even taking a person’s life. So while spirited vehicles can be very exciting to own and drive, it’s up to you make sure that you take every precaution necessary to be safe on the roads.

How to Find Inexpensive Auto Insurance

Posted by Dustin Reed \\ Oct 17, 2010

Instructions

  1. 1

Keep the traffic and parking tickets to an absolute minimum. Tickets on your record have a big influence on the auto insurance rate you get. If you have a clean record, then onto the next step. If you have tickets on your record, within the last handful of years, take it easy for awhile. In most states those tickets will drop off your record after a few years. That will translate directly to lower insurance rates.

  2. 2

Add safety and anti-theft devices to your car. If you’re not in the position to purchase a car with all this preinstalled, then purchase an add-on security system or safety equipment.

  3. 3

Move all your insurance to one company. You will often get a nice discount on individual insurance policies if you give your house, life, auto, and other insurance business to one provider.

  4. 4

Shop around. With the proliferation of insurance companies in the last few years, both on and offline, there’s a pretty fair chance that you aren’t currently with the most inexpensive provider that you could be. There’s no downside to looking at your options and getting free quotes on your auto insurance, or any insurance for that matter.

Pros and Cons of Umbrella Insurance: Why I Just Bought Some

Posted by Kristin Collins \\ Oct 14, 2010

I have to be honest with you. I am scared to death of being sued. We live in such a litigious society now. It is estimated that over 15 million lawsuits are filed in the United States every year, and over $250 billion is awarded each year in lawsuits. The statistics are completely staggering.

In Arizona, civil lawsuits cost only $80 to file. Many lawsuits go to trial and take several months to complete because they will often include discovery motions, mediation hearings, garnishment hearings, findings, judgments and results that are often appealed or contested. All the time this is going on, lawyer fees are being racked up by both parties.

Are You Vulnerable To Lawsuits?

Are you vulnerable to being sued by someone? You bet you are! Most people think that it can’t happen to them, but if you think long and hard, I bet that you can come up with tons of horrible scenarios where you could be sued for negligence or wrongdoing.

Do you have a teen who is a reckless driver? Do you have handymen workers help you with home repairs or someone mow your lawn for you? Unfortunately, in today’s world, the chances of lawsuits are everywhere and the potential for frivolous claims are high. However, umbrella insurance can help protect you and your assets from being lost in a lawsuit verdict or judgment against you.

What Is Umbrella Insurance?

Umbrella insurance, also called excess liability insurance, is additional insurance coverage above and beyond your normal homeowners insurance or automobile liability insurance. It is an insurance policy which usually insures a person for damages that cost at a minimum of $1 million and up to $10 million or more.

Since it is excess liability insurance, umbrella insurance only goes into effect and pays a claim when your homeowners or automobile insurance coverage has reached its limits. Many people may find that they have to increase their initial homeowners and automobile coverage to meet the minimum requirements of an umbrella policy, but it is a small increase in insurance premiums compared with the amount of coverage purchased.

Do You Need Umbrella Insurance?

Do you need to carry umbrella insurance? Maybe, maybe not. One thing to consider is the minimum level of liability coverage most states requires motorists insure themselves in the case of accidents. For example, in North Carolina, the state requires automobile owners to have a minimum liability insurance coverage for a vehicle accident of $30,000 for bodily injury for one person in an accident, $60,000 bodily injury for two or more people and $25,000 in coverage for property damage.

God forbid you or your loved one was at fault in an automobile accident that badly hurt two or more people. The medical bills alone for a one seriously injured person could quickly eclipse the $60,000 coverage if you only had the minimum amount required by the state’s law let alone a car full. Umbrella insurance protects a person from a catastrophic loss.

What If I Do Not Have Any Assets?

How can I get sued for “everything I’m worth” if I’m not worth very much or anything at all to start with? This is a common question and a typical rationale as to why people do not get umbrella insurance coverage. What they are forgetting is their future income. If you lose a lawsuit and do not have enough assets to cover the judgment, your future wages can be garnished.

An umbrella insurance policy provides fairly cheap protection against a catastrophic lawsuit or judgment. The insurance is broad and covers a wide range of personal liability loss exposure. Everyone no matter how much money they make or how many assets they have is vulnerable to being sued and should consider protecting themselves and their family with an umbrella insurance policy.
