Getting Appropriate Tallahassee Auto Insurance

Posted by Amanda Mitchell \\ Jan 05, 2012

Purchasing a Tallahassee auto insurance policy for your car can be as scary and uneasy as getting the car itself! If you know what you are hunting for though, and have some good advice on finding a large amount, youre sure to get just what you require. This article will present you with that knowledge.

For those that will be going away to college and will not be taking their cars, it is important to know that you may be able to receive a discount on your insurance. Most insurance companies provide discounts when you are not going to use your car for extended periods of time.

Stay out of the gap. If you have more financed on your car than it is worth, if your down payment is less than twenty percent, or if you lease, you should add Gap Coverage onto your auto insurance policy. The Gap Coverage will cover the additional amount, over the worth, if you total your car or it gets stolen, and the entire amount of the loan will be paid off.

If you have a good credit rating, there is a pretty good chance that your automobile insurance premium will be cheaper. Insurance companies are starting to use your credit report as part for calculating your insurance premium. If you have a favorable credit report, you will not need to bother about the increase in price.

Keep your insurance up-to-date with who is actually driving your car. A great deal of parents forget to take their children off of their insurance even though they have moved out and gotten coverage of their own. The more drivers on your policy the more you are paying so be certain and keep it current.

So there it is. The 411 on getting your Tallahassee auto insurance all straightened out. Whether you are a new driver or a seasoned pro, insurance is something that we all have to have. Make the most of it by getting a great policy at a great price and using it wisely.

UK drivers Europe’s “bad Samaritans”

Posted by Amanda Mitchell \\ Dec 09, 2011

UK drivers are the least likely among European neighbours to help fellow motorists in distress, an AXA survey has found.

The French insurer has labeled Britain a nation of bad Samaritans because just 6% of Brits questioned said they would always stop and ask a motorist who has broken down if they need help.

In contrast, 40% of Spanish, 38% of Germans, 21% of Dutch, and 20% of French would step up, and while overall fewer women than men would offer to help, the gender gap is at its greatest in the UK.

Natural reserve may be partly to blame as if asked to help push start a car, 28% of Brits said they would respond positively although compared to other nationalities, the proportion is still low with 66% of Germans, 62% of Spanish, and 52% of Dutch and French prepared to roll up their sleeves.

A similar pattern emerges if a car break-in looks to be in progress: 83% of Brits would call the police compared with 97% of Spanish, 95% of Germans, 91% of Dutch, and 87% of French.

However, when it comes to providing cash for a motorist in distress the figures level out, with just 4% of Brits and Germans, 3% of Spanish and French, and 2% of Dutch happy to hand over petrol money to get a fellow motorist moving.

Factors that Affect your Universal Life Insurance Premium

Posted by Admin \\ Nov 29, 2011

Life insurance is important especially if you have young children or are the breadwinner of the family. In such cases your loss will be greatly shouldered by the people left behind in case of untimely death. And because the future is not fixed, anyone who wants to provide adequate protection to their loved ones must immediately purchase life insurance coverage. Now, in case you are wondering just how much is life insurance premium on the average. The answer is it is indefinite. The rates vary from one person to another as it varies from one insurance company to another. Now, here are some factors that influence your insurance premium rate:

Age and Gender

Your age is practically one of the biggest factors that may increase or reduce the value of your premium. The premium is of course lower if you are younger and it climbs up as you age. So the best time to purchase life insurance is while you are in between 20 to 30 years old. Your gender also matters, as statistically speaking women outlive men. Therefore, if you are a woman age 20, your premium will be relatively lower than a man of the same age will.

Smoker or non-smoker

If you are a smoker, your premium is going to be a lot higher. In fact, insurance companies today have a certain set of fees especially for people who smoke.

Occupation

Your occupation also determines the amount of your premium. If think about it if you are a nursery teacher your premium will be a lot cheaper than an electrician, as the likelihood of getting involved in an accident is lower if you compare it to other people with risky careers.

Hobby and habits

Some insurance companies may ask you what your hobbies are and you may innocently answer drinking out with friends, bungee jumping or motorcycle riding. If you mistakenly gave out these pieces of information, expect to increase your premium or have exceptions on your policy. Be sure to ask for advice of agencies that assist in finding cheap general life insurance.

Six Things to do After a Car Accident

Posted by Amanda Mitchell \\ Nov 16, 2011

No matter how scared or worried you are, you must protect yourself after a car accident. Stay calm and remember a few helpful tips.

A car accident is a serious event for new drivers and veteran drivers alike. As soon as the incident occurs, you might feel confused, angry, or even embarrassed. Whether the car accident occurs as a result of your driving or is the fault of the other driver, you must take certain steps to protect yourself. There are several things you should do after a car accident occurs.

Ask the other driver for a copy of his registration and drivers license. Write down the information on a spare piece of paper and keep on your person. Make sure that the name on both pieces match. While there is a chance that the person is driving a relatives car, there is also a chance that the car was stolen.

Call the police for a more serious accident and make sure that you both stay at the scene. Keep the vehicles in the same position they were when the accident occurred. Do not let the other driver convince you that their insurance will cover the incident or that it was not serious enough for police involvement.

Insurance companies recommend that you keep a small camera in your car for recording accidents. With the rise in cell phone use, you can still document the scene, even if you lack a separate camera. Take photos of both vehicles, including any extensive damage. You might even consider taking one or two photos of the other driver, just in case he files a lawsuit for physical damage.

Take stock of any passengers in your vehicle or the other vehicle. Make sure that everyone can walk and does not suffer from any injuries. The police might require that a car crash victim see a doctor or talk to a paramedic. This protects you from future insurance claims where drivers claim a passenger was severely injured. To prevent the chances of another driver claiming damage to a person not on the scene, make sure you document any victims.

No matter how angry or upset you feel, take a deep breath and stay calm throughout the ordeal. The last thing you want is for a passerby to notify the cops of a road rage incident, or have the police arrive and find you in the middle of a screaming match.

Young drivers inseparable from smartphones

Posted by Amanda Mitchell \\ Oct 31, 2011

Department for Transport proposals for increasing the speed limit on motorways to 80mph in recognition of improved vehicle technology should also take account of new figures on in-car distractions, as set out in the RACs 2011 Report on Motoring.

According to the RAC, the problem of smartphone use amongst drivers aged 18 to 24 years has reached staggering new levels, with music, email and mapping apps the main distractions.

Almost half of the young drivers questioned admitted using their mobile while driving in the past year, with the most common need for music (24%), followed by emails (23%) and Google maps (22%).

A further 15% said they talk to friends using Blackberry Messenger or similar services, whilst behind the wheel.

Fifteen percent tweet when on the road, while 8% even admitted to playing games on their smartphones.

Texting is also a growing problem, with over 20% of young drivers admitting to texting while driving in the 2011 survey, compared with 14% in 2010.

Yet drivers overwhelmingly agree that using a phone behind the wheel is dangerous (82%), and one quarter of drivers questioned consider mobile phone usage a bigger issue than drink driving.

Motorists also have strong opinions on how to tackle in-car phone usage, with only 10% believing the current system of punishment works well.

Two-thirds of respondents want to see a ‘3 strikes’ rule whereby drivers caught using their phone three times would lose their licence for a year.

RAC motoring strategist, Adrian Tink, comments: “The popularity of smartphones and apps, especially among younger drivers who’ve grown up with the technology, risks creating a new generation of drivers who believe using a phone behind the wheel is acceptable. This has to change.

He adds: “At 70mph your car travels around the length of six double decker busses every two seconds – if someone told you to close your eyes at that speed for that length of time you’d think they were crazy – yet people are doing virtually the same thing by taking their eyes of the road to look at phones.

Mr Tink also notes that while a quarter of motorists now believe mobile phone use behind the wheel is on a par with drink-driving, the offence still lacks the taboo of drink-driving.

Wisconsinites Finding Cheap Car Insurance Now

Posted by Amanda Mitchell \\ Oct 28, 2011

Drivers in Wisconsin can get excited about spending less on their car insurance premiums very soon.  Back in 2010, Democrats in Wisconsin basically doubled the minimum coverage requirements in the state.  But Republicans, who took control early this year, decided that premiums were getting too high and insurance companies costs were increasing too dramatically.  This information comes from Wisconsin Auto Insurance Changes Set to Take Effect Nov. 1, by Gregor McGavin of Online Auto Insurance.

Many of the minimum coverage requirements in Wisconsin will be cut in half and some will be cut even farther.  Currently Wisconsin drivers have to carry 50/100/15 coverage, or $50,000 of bodily injury coverage for one person, $100,000 per accident, and $15,000 of property damage.  Those levels will decrease to 25/50/10, making finding cheap car insurance in Wisconsin much easier.  High estimates said that premiums went up as much as 30% with the increased requirements.

There is a debate in the state over whether these cuts were necessary though.  Supporters of decreasing the coverage requirements say that insurers costs will go down, causing premiums to go down, and giving more people the ability to purchase car insurance.  Some critics say that Wisconsin consumers will be hurt because increasing health care costs have brought about a need for increasing coverage of medical related car insurance.  The decrease will happen in a few weeks and we will see what happens as Wisconsin goes from some of the highest minimums to some of the lowest.
