The Internet Makes Life Much Easier

It is easy for some of us to remember the days when we didn’t carry mobile phones and didn t have the internet to look things up on. If we wanted to call somebody, we would either use our home phone or go to a payphone. Cell phones were limited to people like doctors, nurses, and shady characters who made their money doing shady things. If we wanted the lyrics to a song, we had to spend sometimes hours playing the tape (That s right tape, there were no CD s) back over and over again just to write all the lyrics down.

If we wanted to know what the definition was to a word, we had to crack open a real book and look it up! In addition, if we wanted to hear a specific song or watch a specific TV show, we had to go out to the store and purchase the cassette tape or we had to turn on the TV at the exact time the show was starting, no DVR or internet streaming TV.

Today things have changed so much. Almost everyone carries a cell phone, even children in grade school. There aren’t many people who don t have computers and internet access, and we certainly don t have to run out and buy a tape if we want to hear a specific song, we can just click on YouTube and search for it. If we want to purchase something like car insurance for example, we don t have to drive out to a number of different insurance agencies or spend countless hours on the phone. We can simply open our internet browser and do a quick online car insurance quote.

Not only can we get quotes online but we can also purchase our policies right there and print the cards out, in our own living rooms. Soon we will see the day where our computers can make us breakfast in the morning or prepare us a cup of coffee, until then we have so many conveniences that we should consider ourselves very lucky.
